About: The University Area CDC has introduced DreamBoxes as part of their efforts to enhance the community and promote literacy. These mini-libraries are strategically placed throughout the University Area, providing easy access to books for residents of all ages. The DreamBoxes operate on a simple principle: anyone can come and take a book to read, and they can also leave behind a book they have already enjoyed.
By installing these mini-libraries, University Area CDC aims to cultivate a love for reading and strengthen family bonds. The DreamBoxes serve as more than just repositories of books; they act as catalysts for community cohesion, a key objective in all the initiatives undertaken by the organization. These mini-libraries were originally constructed in 2018 through a partnership with the Rotary Club of Tampa North, and have since been built with the help of numerous volunteers.
University Area CDC has many wonderful partners who donate books to refill the DreamBoxes, and community outreach staff, along with incredible volunteers, keep them stocked on a regular basis. Community response to the DreamBoxes has been amazing, and it brings us joy to see them being put to use!
