STATE OF FLORIDA DISASTER AID

  • FloridaDisaster.org: Emergency management with a variety of state-run resources and recovery programs.
  • Business Disaster Relief: Helps Florida businesses prepare, respond and recover during natural disasters.
  • HOPE Florida: A 24/7 hotline that is available to assist those in need of resources or other assistance (833) GET-HOPE.

FEMA ASSISTANCE

  • DisasterAssistance.gov: The fastest way to apply for assistance from FEMA for individuals and families. You may also call the FEMA hotline at (800) 621-3362.
  • FEMA Referral Agencies: A list of state and local level referral agencies providing disaster recovery services.

FOOD & SUPPLY PODS (POINTS OF DISTRIBUTION)

  • Hillsborough County PODS: Drive through relief areas where residents can pick up water, tarps for protecting homes, and meals.
  • City of Tampa PODS: Drive-through sites handing out supplies including water, MREs, and ice.

CLEANUP ASSISTANCE

  • Samaritan’s Purse: Christian humanitarian aid organization that provides aid to people in physical need as a key part of its Christian missionary work (833) 747-1234.
  • My Florida CFO: Among other resources, they have a Hurricane Crisis Clean Up Hotline that provides volunteers to remove storm debris and assist with other storm clean up at no charge (844) 965-1386.
  • Discarding Yard Waste: Hillsborough County guidelines for curbside pickup of yard and wood waste and where to take excess waste.
  • Filing an Insurance Claim: Tips to streamline the process and items to note.

TRANSPORTATION

  • FARE-FREE Bus Transportation: HART Bus, HARTPlus, and HARTFlex service is FARE-FREE until October 21, 2024. For more information about routes and schedules, please visit www.goHART.org or contact HART Customer Service at (813) 254-4278.

EMERGENCY SHELTER

  • American Red Cross: Find open shelters and disaster relief services.
  • Salvation Army: Emergency homeless shelters to long-term housing assistance.
  • FEMA Transitional Sheltering Assistance: Temporary lodging for hurricane survivors.
  • You can also text “SHELTER” and your zip code to 4FEMA (43362) to find open shelters. For Spanish, text “REFUGIO” and your zip code to 4FEMA (43362).
  • Hotel Stays: Income eligible residents of Unincorporated Hillsborough County, Plant City and Temple Terrace, who have been displaced due to Hurricane Milton may be eligible to receive temporary hotel assistance. For further details and eligibility requirements, please call (813) 675-3450.
  • Quedarse en Hoteles: Los residentes del Condado en áreas no incorporadas de Hillsborough, Plant City y Temple Terrace, que ganen pocos ingresos y que hayan tenido que dejar sus hogares por el Huracán Milton, podrían recibir ayuda temporal para quedarse en hoteles. LEGAL ASSISTANCE

  • Bay Area Legal Services (BAYS): The Florida Disaster Legal Aid Helpline is available 24/7 to eligible residents living in Florida or who have a legal issue pending in Florida (833) 514-2940.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES / ORGANIZATIONS

  • United Way Suncoast: Or dial 211 to be connected to a variety of expert, caring help.
  • Tampa Family Jewish Services: Hurricane relief resources throughout Hillsborough County.
  • Florida Department of Veteran’s Affairs: For 24/7 counsel, call the National Veteran Crisis Hotline at 988, and press 1. You may also call the Florida Veterans Support Line at 1-844-MyFLVet (1-844-693-5838) or dial 211.
  • Crisis Center of Tampa Bay: Providing 24/7 support for a variety of crisis situations.
  • Hurricane Camps for kids: Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa will be opening Hurricane Camps for kids on Monday, October 14th from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

    The camps are open to all kids and teens, regardless of whether they are current club members. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
